Challenges & Prospects : Environmental Law Framework for Sustainable Development in Lagos State

The idea of Sustainable Development (SD) recognizes that a healthy natural environment is an essential foundation for long lasting social andeconomic development. The challenges in this regards can never be 17(2) (d) and 20 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria1(1999 Constitution) provides respectively that: “Exploitation of human and natural resources in any form whatsoever for reasons other than the good of the community shall be prevented”, and “The State shall protect and improve the environment and safeguard the water, air and land, forest and wild life of Nigeria.”
