Samuel Ngwu is a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Associate at LeLaw Barristers and Solicitors, having joined the firm in September 2020. A budding corporate/commercial and intellectual property lawyer, his interest is in Information and Communication and Technology (ICT) with bias for legal regulatory issues in blockchain/fintech law, privacy and data protection law. He obtained his LL.B degree from University of Ibadan (UI) in 2019. Proceeding thereafter to the Nigerian Law School Abuja Campus, he completed his one year professional training programme and was called to the Nigerian Bar in September 2020. His final year thesis at the University of Ibadan was on “Critical Examination of Derivative Actions under Nigerian Law”

As an undergraduate, Samuel interned at various leading law firms in Lagos, where he prepared for and attended court proceedings, filed processes at Lagos State High Court, conducted searches and follow-up with Court Registrars to obtain case status updates. He also attended client meetings/interviews prepared draft minutes of meetings, and provided research assistance on advisory engagements. He was also a volunteer intern at UI Law Faculty’s Women’s Law Clinic (WLC), where he helped in drafting demand letters, quit notices, application for searches, alternative dispute resolution of domestics issues. His other WLC activities included acting as ‘Street Law Advocate’ (sensitising the public about their legal rights). He actively participated in moot and mock trials at the Nigerian Law School.

In his quest for professional development, Samuel has undertaken and obtained certifications in blockchain technology, commercial mediation and emotional intelligence. He is currently working on his first LeLaw article on application of blockchain to the real estate ecosystem. In his spare time, Samuel loves to read, listen to music and watch football.
